SAS' Crew tips: Amsterdam
Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities in Europe. The pulse is always high, but the laid-back atmosphere is uniquely Dutch. I love coming here, as the city has so much to offer, from the modern and hip, to the traditional. What I love most is just strolling around the city, surrounded by beautiful canals and fabulous architecture. Being only a quick flight away from Scandinavia, you get the feeling of being away from home in a city that gives you energy. I absolutely love Amsterdam!
The Canals
The canals of Amsterdam are known around the world, and while some people sneer at taking guided trips, I think the best way to experience the canals – and see them in all their glory – is to take a boat tour. It’s truly the best way to see this unique part of the city and really get a feel for what it’s all about.

Wolvenstraat 23
This funky bar is not just cool, but also a popular spot to grab delicious Asian snacks. It’s also the perfect place to people-watch, as you enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail.

Omelegg
This is the greatest breakfast restaurant in Amsterdam. They serve breakfast and brunch all day long and it’s the first omelettery in the Netherlands. It’s amazing, with a hip and unique atmosphere.

Nine Street area
My absolute favorite area to hang out in – it offers everything from thrift shops and luxury vintage, to great restaurants and cafés. It also offers amazingly cool accommodation. Surrounded by the gorgeous canals, this area is beautiful, hip, and always surprises you.

Vondelpark
I always try to start my day by being active, so whether you like to go cycling or hiking, or just taking a refreshing walk, this very local spot is great for getting exercise. If you want to be a bit more low-key it’s perfect for an afternoon chill among the locals and to enjoy gorgeous nature, right in the heart of the city.
